Because why not!

So much of our time is spent in our comfort zones that we don’t see the potential on the other side of the door.  Trust me when I say that living in my box has made me the happiest and saddest person I ever thought I could be.  How can you be both, you ask.  Easy!  You simply get comfortable, sometimes you realize it while other times you don’t.  But what you don’t do is change it.  The work it takes to smash those barriers that you so willingly surrounded yourself with is hard.  Its breathtaking.

Let’s be frank.. hard work is scary.  There are speed bumps that no one can foresee and mountains that you never imagined you’d have to climb.  The complacency you feel is overwhelming.  So much so that you sulk into a pit of despair.  Why do we do this to ourselves when we have a head full of hopes, dreams and goals.  So, you never imagined you’d be this age and still haven’t accomplished what you thought you would?  Good!  That makes two of us.  The difference is that I realized a while ago that my potential will never be unleashed and recognized if I don’t do something about it.  Yeah, its scary.  Yes, it takes a lot of work.  Being a mom, who can also procrastinate like no other I know when I’m falling behind in what I need to do.  I also know that if I continue slacking off, I’ll never go anywhere with myself.

I’m guessing that you have so much on your plate these days that your dreams have fallen behind.  That seems to be common.  But do you know what makes all of that seem less complicated..?  Doing what drives you.  Being passionate about your story and the legacy you’re leaving for those who admire and love you.  I was lying in bed last night going over all of the things that I still have yet to do.  Do you know what I felt?  Anxiety.  I let all of the things I haven’t done override the things that I have done.  One thing that resonated with me through the night into the day..  my legacy.  What did I stand for?  What will my kids remember about me most?  Will it be that I can clean a house like a madwoman? (seriously, my son told his preschool teacher that all I do is clean, but that I’m really good at it.  Ugh!)  Or will it be that I didn’t stop dreaming, planning, living and enjoying my life?

I don’t know about you, but I have a fire inside my soul that refuses to fizzle out.  Its said that if you can’t stop thinking about it, then go after it.  That’s exactly what I’m doing.  So, today I did something that I never thought I’d do.  I applied to become a brand ambassador for an amazing company with a mission that I believe in and will lovingly support.  (more details to come!).

I have lists posted on my office wall.  One for GOALS and one for PROJECTS.  My Goals board is separated into three columns..  one year, three year, five year.  I wrote them out for a reason..  so that I look at it every single day; reminding myself why my mind is reeling more than not about all that I will be successful in.  Call me crazy, but I have to keep moving forward.  Allowing someone else to live the life I want is not an option.

Ask yourself..  what would you do tomorrow given the opportunity?  What job would you do?  What city would you reside in?  More importantly.. what will you be remembered for?  This may seem a bit morbid to think of how you’ll be remembered after death, but its a real thing.  I promise.  When your family and friends are reminiscing about you after your passing, what will they say?  This got stuck in my throat last night.  It may seem trivial to some, but what I’m more concerned with is what my kids will remember about me.  That is the most striking point in my life.  For them, failure is not an option.  Clearly, I’m going to have good days and bad ones, just like anyone else on the road to achievement, yet if I quit now, they’ll never see where my true potential lies.

Rising to the occasion is a key to success.  Frightening, yes.  Hard, of course!  Worth every tear, drop of sweat, whatever it may be, absolutely!!  Do you know that *funny saying ‘Let your freak flag fly’?  You totally should!  Prove them wrong.  You know.. those who thought your dreams are outlandish, crazy, too complicated, in the wrong profession.. whatever.  Yeah, prove them wrong!  If I can do it, you can too!  And the best part is knowing that there is a cheering section in the bleachers waiting for you to score the winning point.  Put the negativity in the past and blow past your finish line.  Never stop succeeding.  Never stop believing in yourself.  Your mind is full of wonder.. likely more than you’re giving it credit for.

You can do it!  And if there is any doubt in your mind, lets talk!  I’d love to hear your story, because I know that if you’re willing to tell me, a stranger, you can do more than you think you can!
